‘Lovely jubbly’ – Peterborough-based BGL Insurance embraces comedy to help raise almost £10k for charity!

Major local employer, BGL Insurance (BGLi), embraced comedy this week, hosting a fundraising day in support of the Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal. BGL Insurance’s new parent company, Markerstudy Group, hold a large-scale ‘Markerstudy Day’ fundraiser annually, with thousands of colleagues across the UK taking part and this year was no exception. Raising almost £10k, there were laughs aplenty, as each location within the group designed its own fun schedule, which included virtual raffles, games, dress ups and bake sales.

Colleagues from the BGL Insurance Peterborough office enjoyed a fairground fun day, featuring a charity rodeo, a giant prize-winning ball pit and stalls. Colleagues were also offered the opportunity to donate money for the chance to ‘cream pie’ their managers.

Lizzie Smith-Forman, Director of Group Marketing, Communications and Sustainability at Markerstudy Group, commented: “It was fantastic to see everyone from BGL Insurance getting into the spirit of their first Markerstudy Day, focused on raising a smile at a time when we’re all facing so much uncertainty in the UK and there’s great sadness further afield. Our colleagues’ efforts to put the ‘fun’ into fundraising did not disappoint. The Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal has been supported by our group throughout the year, so it felt right for the appeal to benefit from this annual event too. Colleagues raised an incredible £4,733 from their activities and Markerstudy has also donated a further £5,000 as part of our charity initiative, Motiv8.”

Kayleigh Neeson, BGL Insurance colleague, added: “One of the reasons I enjoy working for BGL Insurance is its commitment to supporting charities. Now, as part of Markerstudy Group, we can extend our reach to support even more amazing causes. It’s not every day the fun of the fairground is at your workplace, so we all made the most of it!”
